Exercise 1 - Understanding meaning
Emerged means came out from.


Emerged can mean physically came out of something.

For example:

As the sun emerged from behind the clouds, the sky was filled with light again.


We also use emerged when something abstract "came out" of something.

For example:

The picture which emerged from the new data showed that 12% of people lost their jobs this year.

Emerging markets is a term used to describe countries which are coming out of a poor, dependent economy and are moving towards a more developed and independent economy.
