Exercise 1 - Understanding meaning
Conflict means two opposing ideas or values pull in opposite directions.

Conflict can be used as a noun or a verb. In this exercise, conflict is used as a noun.


For example:

There is a conflict between what my parents want and what I want. They want me to become a doctor, but I want to become a movie star.


A conflict also means a fight between two or more groups of people.

Each year many people die in Africa due to conflicts between tribes who live in the same country.
