Exercise 1 - Understanding meaning
Discrimination comes from the word discriminate and can have 2 different meanings.

One meaning of discrimination is the ability to recognize the difference between things that seem similar, even if the difference is very small and hard to find.

For example:

Wine farmers are skilled at making the discrimination between good wine and a wine made from grapes that were not good.

You need to be an expert in order to discriminate between top quality diamonds that are flawless and diamonds that have flaws.
