Exercise 4 - Language in use
The word identify has different forms.

Identification is a noun. It can mean a document or card that proves who a person is.

For example:

A driver’s license is a type of identification - it proves who you are.

Identifying is an adjective. Things that help us to identify something are called identifying characteristics.

For example:

The color of a car helps us identify it, so the color is an identifying characteristic.

Identity is also a noun. It means who a person is.

For example:

If you don’t know who a person is and then he tells you who he is, you establish his identity.
