Exercise 5 - Language in use
This exercise focuses on words that go together with contradiction.

Smart readers always look for contradictions that weaken a writer's position. Arguments or claims that contain contradictions are not logically consistent and convincing.

Writers also use 'signal words' to warn the reader that something which sounds like a contradiction is not really a contradiction. These signal words warn the reader that what might seem like a contradiction is simply part of the way the writer wants to build her argument.
