The World Heritage Center of the United Nations is an organization which preserves sites that have outstanding universal value or that contribute to the understanding of human accomplishment and history. Examples of sites on the World Heritage list are the Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal in India.
Sites have to meet a number of criteria in order to be added to the World Heritage List. Criteria for choosing which sites will be on this list include six cultural criteria and four natural criteria.
