Exercise 6 - Towards academic reading
Multi-dimensional problems are complex problems that have many different aspects. All these aspects need to be examined in order to solve these types of problems.

The paragraph below describes how city engineers would deal with a problem such as enlarging a highway.

Read the paragraph and answer the question below.
The city wanted to enlarge the highway that led to the city. This project had several dimensions. One dimension was that many people had homes in the proposed path of the new road. Another was that the engineers would need to expand the water drainage system. Expanding this system would add another dimension to the project: Many old trees would have to be cut down. The final dimension was that the project would cost much more than what the city could afford.
