Practicing for a Debate

If you are going to take part in a debate, it is a good idea to practice arguing about an issue with someone who plays the ‘devil’s advocate’. A ‘devil’s advocate’ is someone who takes a position against your argument even though he may really agree with you. He does this just for the sake of the argument. By playing the ‘devil’s advocate’ he makes you work harder at finding examples to support your idea and build more convincing arguments. This is a good way to prepare for a debate.
