Exercise 1 - Understanding meaning
Accompanied comes from accompany which means to go with someone or something.

Accompanied can be used as both a verb and an adjective. In this exercise it is used as a verb.

For example:

Teachers accompanied their classes on every school trip.

I accompanied my grandmother to the airport, but then she had to walk to the airplane by herself.
