Distribution can also mean the amount of something that exists in a specific area, or among specific groups.

For example:

Today more people speak Mandarin Chinese than English. However, this one fact does not give us the whole picture. To understand what this really means, we also need to look at the distribution of Chinese and English speakers throughout the world.
