Exercise 6 - Towards academic reading
Students who complete a Master's thesis or a doctoral dissertation are expected to include an acknowledgement page at the beginning of their work. On this page, they acknowledge the contributions of people who helped them to complete their study.

They can also express appreciation to institutions that provided them with assistance in doing their study. If they received permission to use laboratory facilities or special equipment in their study, this should also be acknowledged.

Read the following extract from an acknowledgements page and answer the question below.
An Example of an Acknowledgement Page

Special thanks are also due to Prof. Milgram whose wisdom and expertise helped me to complete this study, and to Prof. Caniel whose constant support kept me on track. I would also like to thank all my students who participated in this study. Finally, I thank my husband and children for their encouragement. Without them, this study would not have been possible.
